Ukraine plans mass production of “Flamingo” and “Ruta” missiles by the end of the year

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that mass production of “Flamingo” and “Ruta” missiles would begin in Ukraine by the end of the year. These new models are already being used by the Armed Forces.

At a briefing, Zelensky noted that Ukraine has made significant progress in producing its own missiles. Although he did not specify the exact amount, the president confirmed that the new missiles are already being used by the Defense Forces. Specifically, this refers to the “Flamingo” and “Ruta” missiles. The “Neptune” missile, according to him, is also already in mass production with prospects for further developments.

The “Ruta” missile is a Ukrainian cruise missile or a jet drone created by the Dutch startup Destinus. Its flight range is up to 300 km, and its speed is from 500 to 800 km/h. The “Flamingo” missile can cover a distance of 3000 km with a warhead weight of up to 1150 kg, and an accuracy of 14 meters, according to the manufacturer.

At the end of October, Zelensky held a meeting with the Staff, where they discussed expanding the geography of long-range strikes on Russian territory. On October 31, the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported strikes with “Neptune” missiles on the Oryol thermal power station and the “Novobryansk” electrical substation.

These steps emphasize Ukraine’s efforts to strengthen its own defense capabilities amidst ongoing conflicts. Experts believe that the mass production of new missiles could significantly enhance the country’s defense capability and influence the course of military actions.
