In times of war, many people experience emotional exhaustion and psychological difficulties. One such problem is anxiety depression, which is becoming increasingly common, especially among those affected by military actions.
Living in Kharkiv, I directly felt all the horrors of war: bombings and shelling became part of everyday life. After moving to Kyiv, I faced the consequences of this experience — baseless anxiety, depression, and inexplicable emotions that had lingered over me for a long time. Dealing with these manifestations was stressful and exhausting, but eventually, I decided to seek professional help from a foreign psychiatrist who diagnosed me with anxiety depression.
Finding the right treatment was a complicated and long process. Antidepressants do not always lead to an improvement in condition, especially when they are not properly selected. Alongside medication therapy, I started reading literature that offered a rational rethinking of being. However, instead of bringing calm, it only intensified the sense of alienation and anxiety, as the loss of a spiritual dimension did not bring harmony with the world around.
Conversations with friends and travel, which opened new horizons of world perception, helped. Discussions about the multidimensionality of the world and the importance of feelings that are not covered by rational explanations prompted a reevaluation of values and the search for new meanings in life. The question of whether it is possible to create a harmonious world around oneself still remains with me.
In today’s complex world, we must remember the need for balance between rational thinking and sensory perception. This helps not only to overcome personal difficulties but also, perhaps, to find new ways to achieve happiness amidst the challenges life presents us.
