The Franco-Ukrainian defense startup Alta Ares appointed the former head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Anton Drobovych, as the head of its Ukrainian office, noting his philosophical education and military experience.

The company’s founder, Adrian Kanter, reported that the decision to appoint was made over more than a year. According to Kanter, Drobovych combines deep philosophical thinking with practical training, enabling him to work effectively in the field of defense technologies where the development of artificial intelligence requires a conscious approach.

Anton Drobovych, a candidate of philosophical sciences, led the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory from 2019 to 2024. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he served until the spring of 2024.

Defense Tech company Alta Ares, founded in 2024, specializes in air defense systems and autonomous systems. In June 2026, the company raised 50 million euros in investment from the venture fund Air Street Capital with the support of Cherry Ventures, OTB Ventures, and Harpoon Ventures. Alta Ares is developing interception technologies for various threats, including X-Lock drones for small targets and Black Bird for high-speed targets.

The company has already deployed its developments in three active conflict zones, positioning itself as an innovator in the field of automated systems capable of geographically adapting to arctic or desert conditions.
