The volumes of grain exports from Ukraine have exceeded last year’s level.

Exports of grains and flour from Ukraine increased by 4.6% in the new marketing year, despite a reduction in the supply of wheat and barley. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as of August 12, 2.955 million tons of this product had been exported.

The overall growth in grain and flour exports compared to the same period last year was 4.6%. At the same time, wheat and barley export volumes decreased by 18.3% and 28.1%, respectively. Wheat exports fell to 1.239 million tons, while barley exports amounted to 333,000 tons. Since the beginning of August 2026, wheat export volumes decreased to 175,000 tons compared to 759,000 tons in August of the previous marketing year, and barley exports decreased to 37,000 tons compared to 206,000 tons last year.

Unlike wheat and barley, corn exports increased by 66.4% and reached 1.376 million tons. In August 2026, only 68,000 tons of corn were exported, which is lower than the 184,000 tons exported in August of the previous year. Flour exports decreased by 54.1% and amounted to 2.8 thousand tons, equivalent to 3.7 thousand tons in grain terms, compared to 8.1 thousand tons a year earlier.

These changes in grain export volumes are significant for Ukraine’s agricultural sector, as they can significantly impact the country’s food balance and its export policy. The growth in corn exports, amid the overall decline in wheat and barley exports, may indicate changes in global demand and Ukraine’s adaptation to new market conditions.

Product Export Volume 2026/27 MY (thousand tons) Change (%)
Grains, legumes, and flour 2955 +4.6%
Wheat 1239 -18.3%
Barley 333 -28.1%
Corn 1376 +66.4%
