Warner Music Group acquired the startup Sureel AI, which specializes in content attribution using artificial intelligence technologies. This acquisition will help the media giant enhance the protection and monetization of its artists’ intellectual property.

Warner Music Group announced the purchase of the startup Sureel AI, which specializes in content attribution technologies, reports TechCrunch. This acquisition will allow Warner Music to leverage Sureel’s innovative solutions to track the use of its artists’ works on AI-based platforms, as well as in AI model training processes.

Representatives of Warner Music noted that the acquisition will strengthen the company’s ability to control, protect, and effectively manage intellectual property. Sureel AI’s technologies will allow for better monitoring of the use of musical works, voices, images, and creative styles, creating the so-called “AI-DNA” of musical works by breaking them down into individual components. This will significantly ease the control over the use of elements in content based on AI.

After the deal, the startup will continue to operate as a separate platform and provide its services to participants in the music industry as well as companies specializing in artificial intelligence. Although the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, it is known that Sureel AI’s technologies will be used not only for music attribution but also for auditing and monitoring compliance with intellectual property requirements.

Sureel AI was founded in 2022 and possesses patented technology that analyzes and controls different components of musical works. Additionally, the startup offers solutions for AI model optimization, auditing, and business analytics. Sureel’s tools can also track the use of artists’ voices, appearances, and stage images in AI-based content, including voice clones and digital avatars.
