Ukrainian defense enterprises received preferential loans totaling 6.6 billion UAH.
Within the framework of the state program supporting the defense-industrial complex in Ukraine, 108 preferential loans have been allocated for a total amount of 6.6 billion hryvnias. Another 81 applications for 6.3 billion hryvnias are under consideration.
The funds obtained through the program will be directed towards the development, production, repair, and modernization of military equipment and ammunition. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine states that the interest rate in banks for these enterprises remains limited at a level of 23% per annum, but thanks to state compensations, they effectively pay only 5% per annum.
Only those enterprises of the defense-industrial complex that are recognized as critically important for the economy in special conditions can participate in the program. This financial support is part of the strategy to strengthen the country’s defense capability and increase the competitiveness of the Ukrainian defense industry, particularly in the context of recent partnership agreements with European manufacturers worth almost 800 million euros.
It is expected that the reduced-rate lending program will stimulate the growth of the Ukrainian defense industry, which is of significant importance to the Ukrainian economy, especially in the light of rising geopolitical tensions. According to analysts, the implementation of such programs also strengthens the positions of Ukrainian companies in both the domestic and international markets.
