Ukrainian manufacturers have been given the technology to produce OCTOPUS interceptor drones, which are designed to counter “Shaheds”. According to Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal, three Ukrainian companies have already started production, and 11 more are preparing to launch.
The OCTOPUS drones, developed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, are capable of operating under conditions of night operations, jamming, and at low altitudes. Shmyhal emphasized that this technology is purely Ukrainian and has already proven its effectiveness in combat conditions. The Ministry of Defense continues its policy of active collaboration with manufacturers to quickly transition from innovation to serial solutions that enhance the country’s defense capabilities.
According to President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement, to counter the 800 Russian “Shaheds”, Ukraine needs at least 1600 interceptors. Earlier, Shmyhal reported that Ukrainian forces would be able to use up to 1000 interceptor drones per day for defense against attacks. In October, it was also announced that there would be a joint project between Ukraine and the United Kingdom for the production of these drones at British government centers.
