Saudi Arabia has reduced the price of oil for Asia.

Saudi Arabia has lowered the price of its main crude oil for Asian buyers amid talks about possible easing of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. This comes against the backdrop of declining global oil prices.

Saudi Aramco has announced a reduction in the official price of Arab Light crude for Asian markets by 50 cents per barrel. The cost is now set at 2 dollars per barrel below the regional benchmark. This move was unexpected for traders who anticipated prices to remain at previous levels.

Oil prices, particularly Brent crude, are trading at around 80 dollars per barrel. This is linked to the renewal of significant talks about easing ship movement through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has reached an agreement with Oman on a proposed shipping route through this strategically important waterway.

Amid potential disruptions, Saudi Arabia has redirected a significant portion of its oil exports through the Yanbu port on the Red Sea coast using the East-West pipeline. This has provided an alternative route, although shipping through the Red Sea remains threatened by Houthi militant attacks.

According to Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Nasser, the company is currently maintaining exports at around 5 million barrels per day, which constitutes approximately 70% of the usual supply volume. This situation is linked to the necessity of adapting to international market conditions and strategic negotiations.

U.S. President Donald Trump previously stated a willingness to forego new military strikes against Iran if the parties can swiftly reach an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program and shipping security in the Strait of Hormuz.
