The US Plan for Conflict Resolution: Ukraine’s Reaction and International Resonance
The United States has developed a new plan to resolve the war between Russia and Ukraine, which includes concessions that Kyiv has already called unacceptable. The information was released by Bloomberg, citing unnamed sources.
According to the plan, developed by the Donald Trump administration, it is envisaged to end sanctions against Russia, stop investigations of war crimes, and Ukraine’s concession of territories in Donbas. This document is similar to the ceasefire in Gaza and includes 28 points, sources say. Among the conditions is also the reduction of the size of the Ukrainian armed forces, which creates a threat of increased vulnerability for Ukraine in case hostilities resume.
The plan also includes a provision for rent payment that Russia would provide to Ukraine for the occupied territories in Donbas. The Economist noted that the conditions also include other concessions, including the official status of the Russian language in Ukraine.
Kyiv representatives have already expressed concern about important aspects of the plan, emphasizing their readiness for negotiations only under the conditions of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity. Experts believe that developing such a plan without agreement with Ukraine and the EU could lead to an escalation of the situation.
| Key Provisions of the Plan | Ukraine’s Reaction |
|---|---|
| Lifting sanctions on Russia | Refusal and rejection |
| Transfer of territories in Donbas | Unacceptable for Kyiv |
| Reducing the size of the Armed Forces of Ukraine | Threat to the country’s security |
