Kyiv and Washington are working on a joint plan for the end of the war in Ukraine
Ukraine and the United States have begun working on a document intended for the “honorable conclusion” of the war caused by the Russian invasion after the US side provided a draft peace plan.
The Office of the President of Ukraine confirmed the information about providing the peace plan draft to President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting between Ukrainian and American diplomats that took place recently. According to the US assessment, this plan may become a driving force for boosting diplomatic efforts. Zelensky emphasized the importance of fundamental principles necessary to meet the interests of the Ukrainian people, and both sides agreed to further work on detailing the plan to achieve an “honorable conclusion” to the war. Discussions on diplomatic opportunities with American leader Donald Trump are planned shortly.
In recent days, a delegation led by US Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll has been in the Ukrainian capital, discussing military innovations with the Ukrainian leadership, including drone technologies. The negotiations are taking place amid rumors of a secret peace settlement plan between the US and Russia without the participation of Europe and Ukraine. Official sources do not confirm these claims at the moment, but media reports citing anonymous sources suggest possible territorial concessions in favor of Russia.
At the same time, US Secretary Rubio emphasized that achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict requires “complex” concessions from both countries.
