Apple begins a large-scale iPhone transformation and changes the release schedule
Apple has announced strategic changes in its iPhone lineup, which will span three years. This includes updating flagship models and introducing a flexible gadget by 2026.
Apple has decided to change the traditional iPhone release schedule, which was previously in the fall. Now, releases will be divided into two phases: high-tech models will appear in the fall, while mid-range ones in the spring. This approach aims to stabilize revenues and optimize engineering resources.
The first changes will affect the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro, which will appear in September of this year. By 2026, the first foldable smartphone from Apple is expected, and by 2027 — a device with a hidden camera. Along with changes in mobile devices, the company is abandoning further development of the Mac Pro desktop computer, favoring Mac Studio.
The integration of new technologies is not limited to its own products: Tesla plans to implement Apple CarPlay support despite previous resistance from Elon Musk.
Changes in personnel policy have not been long in coming either. After the departure of COO Jeff Williams, responsibility for several key areas was distributed among top managers. However, the most significant expected change is the possible departure of CEO Tim Cook with likely successor John Ternus.
Experts note that these changes could significantly impact Apple’s market position, considering growing competition from Samsung and other manufacturers.
