The French company Mistral AI is preparing for potential collaboration with various partners in Ukraine, particularly the Ministry of Defense’s Innovation and Defense Technology Development Center. However, the company Palantir has officially denied any interest in overseeing these discussions.
The publication Intelligence Online, specializing in intelligence topics, released information regarding a possible mission of the Mistral AI team to Kyiv to work with Ukraine’s Innovation and Defense Technology Development Center. According to unnamed sources, this collaboration could become part of a broader effort by Mistral AI aimed at integrating its large language models with the Ukrainian DELTA ecosystem. DELTA is a system used by the military for coordinating operations and information exchange.
Palantir, an American company that has been collaborating with Ukraine in military and humanitarian projects since 2022, has firmly rejected any claims of interest in controlling negotiations between Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense and Mistral AI. The Ministry of Defense’s Innovation Center also confirmed the absence of formalized relations with the French startup.
According to Intelligence Online, the possible cooperation with Mistral AI aims to test new large language models on Ukrainian combat data, which could significantly impact Ukraine’s military and intelligence capabilities. This could also be an interesting development for Mistral AI, which seeks to expand its models to new markets and enrich them with real data.
Mistral AI, founded in 2023 by Arthur Mensch, Guillaume Lample, and Timothé Lacroix, is one of the leaders in developing large language models. After securing significant funding in 2025, the company became known for its innovations and versatile models, such as Mistral Large 3, which can operate in numerous languages.
