Dmytro Maleev launched Tysh: an app for digital detox on iOS
Dmytro Maleev, serving as Director of Engineering at Agoda, launched the iOS app Tysh, which helps users control their content consumption and digital habits. The project also became a field for experiments with AI-based automated development.
The idea for the app arose when Maleev noticed how social media and other apps started to take up too much time, negatively affecting psychological well-being. Inspiration came after reading Cal Newport’s book “Digital Minimalism”. The Tysh project is built on the concept of Digital Minimalism—conscious consumption of digital content, similar to mindful eating habits.
Maleev independently manages all aspects of Tysh’s development, from design to testing and promotion. The main expenses involved paying for a designer’s work and subscriptions to AI tools. A designer was engaged during the first month, although the collaboration didn’t work out.
The app’s monetization occurs through subscriptions that offer access to additional features. In 2026, Maleev plans to expand Tysh’s functionality, improve its design and marketing strategy, while investment attraction is currently not considered.
