Apple released the macOS Tahoe 26.2 update with the Edge Light feature to enhance video communication
Apple introduced macOS Tahoe 26.2 with the new Edge Light feature, which improves video quality in low-light conditions by adding a virtual ring light around the Mac display.
The Edge Light feature, built into the latest macOS update, is designed for users who frequently participate in video conferences. The novelty simulates physical ring lighting, creating light around the edges of the display that softly illuminates the user’s face in a dark room. Thanks to integration with the Mac’s Neural Engine, it automatically detects the position and size of the user’s face, providing accurate lighting.
Edge Light is available in video conference settings alongside other effects such as “Portrait Mode” and “Studio Light.” The feature is compatible with all video communication applications on Mac, including FaceTime, WebEx, and Zoom. Mac users of the 2024 release can set up Edge Light to turn on automatically when low light is detected. Additionally, Edge Light is supported on the Studio Display monitor and when using external cameras.
