Ukraine and Norway will cooperate in the joint production of artillery shells and drones.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced an agreement with Norway to create a joint production of long-range 155-mm artillery shells. This is part of an initiative to strengthen defense capability and provide Ukrainian troops with necessary resources. Norway will also co-finance the mid-strike drone production project.
Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Ukrainian military personnel engaged in combat operations emphasized the need for modern long-range artillery and shells for it. The agreement with Norway will allow these needs to be met through joint production. This will be an important step in the context of military interaction between the two countries.
The production will be organized on Norwegian territory, with a focus not only on the manufacture of artillery shells but also on industrial partnership in the development of mid-strike drones. The first drone systems are expected to be delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces by summer 2026. Norwegians will provide funding for this project, allocating additional funds exceeding $7 billion, budgeted for Ukraine’s defense support in 2026.
This step is part of a long-term strategy of cooperation between the countries in the defense sector. According to experts, such initiatives enhance Ukraine’s defense capability and open up new opportunities for technological developments in the security solutions sector.
