Dua Lipa demands $15 million from Samsung for using her face on TV packaging

Dua Lipa filed a lawsuit against Samsung for unlawful use of her image.

British singer Dua Lipa has taken legal action against Samsung, accusing the company of unlawfully using her photograph on television packaging. The artist is seeking $15 million in compensation.

According to information provided by Variety, the lawsuit was filed in the Central District of California. It states that since last year, Samsung has been using Lipa’s image on TV cardboard boxes without her consent and payment. The singer claims that she did not grant permission for such use and has not received any compensations.

The lawsuit documents say that Dua Lipa, upon learning of the situation, demanded that Samsung cease using the boxes bearing her image. However, according to the singer, the company ignored her demands. Experts believe this case could set a precedent for protecting celebrities’ rights when their images are used by companies without permission.

Additionally, the lawsuit notes that the photograph provided by Dua Lipa influenced consumers’ decisions to purchase Samsung products. Witnesses on social media confirm they were misled into thinking the singer endorsed the brand. The copyright holder of the photograph, taken backstage at the Austin City Limits music festival, claims the company used it without proper permissions.

Samsung is currently not providing official comments on this incident, leaving the matter unresolved.
