SpaceX will acquire Anysphere, the developer of the AI assistant Cursor, for $60 billion.

SpaceX announced the acquisition of AI assistant developer Anysphere for $60 billion

Elon Musk’s company, SpaceX, has reached an agreement to acquire Anysphere, the developer of the AI programming assistant Cursor, with the deal amounting to $60 billion. This move strengthens SpaceX’s position in the corporate AI tools market.

According to Reuters, the purchase will be paid in SpaceX shares, and the deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026. Following the acquisition announcement, Elon Musk’s company shares increased nearly 10% in pre-market trading. This could substantially increase SpaceX’s market capitalization and potentially make it the fifth most valuable company in the world, surpassing Amazon.

Anysphere is known as the developer of the popular AI programming assistant Cursor, which automates coding. In 2025, the company significantly increased in valuation, raising its worth from $2.6 billion to $27 billion, while its annual revenue grew approximately 20 times to $1 billion.

In the event of a deal collapse, SpaceX commits to paying a compensation of $10 billion. If the acquisition is blocked by antitrust authorities, this amount will be reduced to $4 billion.

SpaceX’s decision to integrate with Anysphere follows its strategy to expand in the field of AI tools, which became a key direction after merging with xAI in February 2026. Experts believe the potential development of corporate AI technologies could significantly impact the industry, offering companies new solutions for automation and enhancing programming efficiency.
