Sony Group returns to exclusive games for PlayStation 5
Sony Group Corporation has decided to refocus on exclusive releases of its major games for the PlayStation 5 console, abandoning the strategy of launching on PC. This changes a six-year practice of multiplatform releases.
According to Bloomberg, upcoming projects such as “Ghost of Yotei” and “Saros” will remain exclusives for PlayStation 5. Online games will continue to be released on various platforms, while only games from external developers published by Sony will appear on PC.
The decision to change the strategy is associated with several factors. Previously ported PC games showed weak sales, which did not meet the company’s expectations. In addition, there are concerns that releasing games on PC could harm the PlayStation brand by reducing demand for the console itself. The previous strategy caused dissatisfaction due to chaotic releases and delays.
Experts believe that returning to console exclusives could strengthen PlayStation’s market position, but the question remains as to how this will affect the platform’s long-term development.
| Factor | Impact |
|---|---|
| Poor PC sales | Changing strategy in favor of exclusivity |
| Brand protection | Preventing reduced demand for PlayStation |
| Player dissatisfaction | Need for more stable release strategy |
