Serhiy Sternenko will become the advisor to the Minister of Defense on UAV issues
Serhiy Sternenko has been appointed as an advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine to improve the efficiency of using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This was announced by Minister Mykhailo Fedorov on social media.
Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov noted that one of the priority areas will be the basic provision of drone units and the development of analytics. Together with Sternenko, who will have a key role in the project, they aim to enhance the effectiveness of UAV use.
Sternenko emphasized the need to change procurement criteria, focusing on quality, not just price, to acquire the most suitable drone models for the military. He also stressed the importance of creating a system where requests are formed directly from UAV operators. This will allow maximizing utility for servicemen on the front line.
Recently, Mykhailo Fedorov was appointed as the Minister of Defense, and his first steps involve reformatting the structural processes of the ministry. He sees the potential in cost-saving through digitalization, allowing more efficient management of expenses and procurements, adding civilian oversight to governance functions.
