As a result of the drone attack on the south of the Odesa region, an energy facility was damaged, and critical infrastructure is operating on generators. The strike, recorded at night, was aimed at civilian and energy infrastructure in the region.
The head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, reported that as a result of the attack, an energy facility, an administrative building, and individual households in the private sector were affected, causing fires that were promptly extinguished. Damage to the energy infrastructure led to power outages. No data on injured or deceased persons have been received at this time.
To respond to the consequences of the shelling, a city headquarters is operating in the area: 11 resilience centers have been deployed to assist the population. Critical infrastructure is operating on generators, and the DTEK energy company has already reconnected 8,000 families via backup schemes, while another 36,300 remain without electricity. Energy workers are working intensively to restore power supply to the region as quickly as possible.
This incident is part of a broader series of attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. The day before, on November 22, the “Orlivka” checkpoint on the border with Romania suspended operations due to shelling, and on November 25, Russian forces attacked the port in Chornomorsk, the second largest in the country, damaging administrative buildings and equipment.
