Ukrainian MacPaw and Liquid AI to develop local AI for Mac computers
Ukrainian company MacPaw and American Liquid AI have announced a strategic partnership to create local artificial intelligence technology for Mac. The first product of this collaboration is the AI assistant Eney.
As part of the collaboration, MacPaw and Liquid AI will jointly work on a technology stack that will enable the AI assistant’s tasks to run directly on Mac computers. This will be based on Liquid Foundation Models developed for macOS, combined with MacPaw’s Elix and Mnemos technologies. The aim is to transfer AI work from the cloud to the local device.
The AI assistant Eney, already available in a basic form, will, thanks to joint efforts, be able to process files and applications locally on Macs with Apple Silicon chips. The main functionality of the assistant will involve using system tools within the permissions of macOS and requesting user confirmations for potentially dangerous operations.
The development is a platform technology, which will initially be integrated into Eney and later appear in other MacPaw products. Additionally, MacPaw plans to make these technologies available to third-party developers through the Setapp platform.
MacPaw is a well-known Ukrainian company founded in 2008, with over 30 million users. Liquid AI, originating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, specializes in powerful AI systems capable of operating directly on devices. The partnership with MacPaw opens new opportunities for innovation in the field of local AI solutions.
