Andriy Shevchenko was appointed as the managing director of Helsing in Ukraine on July 12, 2026. This was part of the company’s expansion, which focuses on defense technologies and the application of artificial intelligence in the military field.

Founded in 2021 in Munich, Helsing is known for developing AI-based software for battlefield data analysis. Initially, the company’s activities were aimed at creating technologies to support military decisions, but eventually, Helsing began producing its own systems, including strike kamikaze drones, autonomous underwater vehicles, and unmanned aircraft.

Andriy Shevchenko, previously known for his work in diplomatic and government positions, noted that he views his transition to a private defense company not as a career change but as its continuation. He emphasized the advantages of the private sector in decision-making speed and the ability to quickly measure results.

Among Shevchenko’s main responsibilities is coordinating Helsing’s activities in Ukraine, including establishing connections with military users of the company’s products. The company has already invested significant funds in contracts with Ukrainian manufacturers, particularly in the production of the HF-1 strike drone.

Helsing actively plans to expand its presence in Ukraine, including establishing new partnerships with local defense companies. The collaboration with Culver Aerospace in the joint production stage of drones is part of the larger Build with Ukraine initiative.

An important aspect of Helsing’s activities is the use of artificial intelligence. It underpins all of the company’s technological solutions, including products such as the HX-2 drone, the CA-1 Europa autonomous fighter, and the SG-1 Fathom underwater glider. The company plans to continue developing the integration of these technologies, especially in light of the numerous challenges posed to defense technologies by the modern battlefield.

Helsing’s long-term ambitions in Ukraine are emphasized by the desire to create mutually beneficial relationships with local partners, which will contribute to the development of the country’s defense industry and ensure an innovative approach to addressing modern military challenges.
