Ukrainian companies face challenges in ensuring connectivity during blackouts caused by technical failures or force majeure circumstances. Satellite communication technologies, such as Direct to Cell, can become crucial in such situations.
Recently, satellite solutions have increasingly become a backup infrastructure for emergency communication. In cases where the traditional network is not operational, a satellite channel may be the only means to transmit data. For example, in Ukraine, Starlink Direct to Cell is already operational, allowing mobile operator subscribers to send SMS even in the absence of ground coverage.
The issue of uninterrupted communication significantly impacts businesses. Team coordination is lost, repair works slow down, and delays occur in rescue operations. Emergency satellite communication helps mitigate these risks by providing the capability to call for help in emergencies.
At the same time, the need for regulating communication availability is growing. Many people strive to reduce online time by practicing digital hygiene. A British study shows that 68% of adult internet users implement online time management strategies, including disabling notifications and setting a “do not disturb” mode.
Legislative initiatives in different countries, such as the right to disconnect in Australia, emphasize the need to establish clear rules for interaction both at a personal and corporate level. According to the European Parliament’s recommendations, common rules within the EU may emerge in the future.
