Most Ukrainian citizens in Iran are women married to Iranians
As of November 2025, there are about 800 Ukrainian citizens in Iran, the vast majority of whom are women married to Iranian men and their children.
According to the information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, which was provided in response to a request by LIGA.net, less than a thousand Ukrainian citizens currently reside in Iran. The ministry also noted that after Iran transferred Shahed drones to Russia in 2022, Kyiv reduced diplomatic contacts with Tehran. Despite this, diplomatic relations have not been completely severed, and mechanisms remain to contain the deepening of relations between Iran and Russia.
According to unofficial information, there are over 200,000 Ukrainian citizens in Belarus, but only about 7,000 of them are registered with the consulate, indicating a significant difference between the number of present and registered individuals.
