Ukrainian special forces struck fuel depots in occupied Luhansk region
On the night of October 27, Ukrainian special operations forces successfully attacked a frontline fuel depot and oil base located in the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region. The destruction of these facilities weakens the supply of resources for the Russian army.
The Ukrainian special forces delivered an asymmetric strike, hitting the targets when the tanks were filled, significantly enhancing the impact of the attack. The depot was located in occupied Starobilsk, and the oil base was directly in Luhansk. According to Ukrainian special forces, such strikes are aimed at hastening the halt of the Russian army’s offensive capabilities.
This strike was part of a larger context of current hostilities. It became known that on October 23, there was an emergency shutdown of the Ryazan refinery due to a drone attack. Later, on October 26, a strike on the Belgorod dam in Russia was confirmed, causing flooding of Russian positions due to significant damage to the sluice.
Experts note that critical infrastructure in occupied territories and border regions of Russia is key for supporting military operations. Its destabilization could severely complicate the logistic and technical capabilities of the Russian army, potentially affecting the pace of hostilities.
