In Sumy region, a drone attacked a minibus: among the injured are children
In the Sumy region on the Sumy-Bilopillya highway, a Russian drone struck a minibus that did not follow the designated safe route. As a result of the attack, 13 people were injured, including two children.
The attack occurred around 16:50 in the area of the Mykolayivka rural community. The minibus, in which there were five passengers and a driver, was heading towards Sumy. Later, the number of injured rose to 13, including 10 women, one girl, and two children aged 15 and 8 years. Additionally, a 69-year-old man was injured, who died from his injuries in the hospital. The attack was strongly condemned by local authorities, who noted that travel on this section of the road by scheduled transport is prohibited due to the threat of drone strikes.
The region’s military administration emphasizes the need to follow safe routes that have been approved for passenger transport in the region. The regional prosecutor’s office has launched a pre-trial investigation into possible war crimes in connection with this attack.
The tense situation in the region is not new. For example, similar attacks by Russian drones had already occurred in other parts of the region in October, leading to a significant number of casualties. The actions of military forces are causing concern due to frequent attacks on civilians and transport in areas already recognized as high-risk zones.
