Zelensky on Ukraine’s EU membership in 2027: I don’t believe that Russia won’t obstruct our accession

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made an important statement regarding Ukraine’s European integration, emphasizing the need for a clear date for the country’s accession to the European Union. According to the Ukrainian leader, this is critical for Ukraine’s security and to prevent possible obstacles from Moscow.

Zelensky expressed confidence that Ukraine will be technically ready to join the EU by 2027. In his statement, he highlighted that the EU is a security guarantor for Ukraine after the end of the war. The President noted that the American side believes in the absence of resistance from Russia to Ukraine’s European integration, but Zelensky himself considers that Moscow may try to influence this process through other countries.

Zelensky also emphasized the importance of a specific EU accession date, under which the signatures of all parties of the peace plan, including Ukraine, Europe, the USA, and Russia, will be placed. He expressed hope for political support from the USA, which can influence some EU countries not to block Ukraine’s integration.

Earlier, Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz stated that accelerated accession of Ukraine to the EU is impossible, which coincided with the demands of Orban, an ardent opponent of Ukraine’s integration. According to experts, this may complicate the process of European integration.
