The White House plans to hold a leaders’ meeting to discuss the situation in Gaza
The Trump administration plans to hold the first Peace Council meeting aimed at resolving the conflict in Gaza on February 19. The event aims to promote the second phase of the ceasefire agreement and raise funds for the region’s reconstruction.
According to information published by Axios, the White House has already begun reaching out to dozens of countries to involve their leaders in the event. However, the implementation of this plan is in its early stages, and specific details may change. The participation of Israel and other countries will be discussed during the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the US, scheduled for February 18.
The Peace Council meeting becomes part of the broader Trump administration initiative to resolve the conflict in Gaza and demilitarize Hamas. Although initial steps towards agreements with Hamas have already begun, experts believe the process will take longer than anticipated by the Trump administration. The plan includes a 100-day timeline initiated by Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of the US president.
The initiative to establish the Peace Council was initially presented during the World Economic Forum in Davos and was met with skepticism from some of Washington’s Western allies. The organization, led by the US president, currently includes 27 members and aims to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza.
