Neuralink to Begin Mass Production of Neurochips in 2026
Neuralink, founded by Elon Musk, is preparing to launch mass production of neurochips in 2026. The operations for their installation will be fully automated.
The company’s neurochips are designed to assist people with spinal cord injuries in controlling digital tools. The first patients who tested the implants have already been able to interact with computers: playing video games, browsing web pages, and even posting on social media. This became possible thanks to trials started in 2024, after resolving safety issues with the FDA regulator. Previously, in 2022, the company’s application was rejected, but the issues were later resolved.
As of September 2025, 12 people worldwide have received implants. All of them suffered from severe paralysis and can now use devices to control both digital and physical tools. This was made possible by raising $600 million in investments in May 2025, which provided additional development of the technologies.
Experts believe that such technologies can significantly improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and may stimulate investor interest in the medical technology sector. At the same time, the company will face challenges with regulatory standards and the long-term effectiveness of technologies.
