Journalistic Investigation: Deputy Head of Ukraine’s Cyberpolice Resides in Elite Apartment Purchased by a Russian Citizen
Deputy Head of the Cyberpolice Department of Ukraine Volodymyr Kryvolapov lives in a luxury apartment in Kyiv, bought by his brother – a Russian citizen. This situation has raised concerns about potential security risks. This is stated in an investigation by Bihus.Info media.
Kryvolapov has held the position of Deputy Head in the Cyberpolice since 2023. Previously, he worked in the National Police’s Economic Protection Department and the State Bureau of Investigation, where contests were described as non-transparent by the media. Volodymyr Kryvolapov declares that he resides in the elite residential complex “French Quarter” in an apartment rented by his former partner, now cohabitant, Natalia Kryvolapova, from his brother Serhiy.
Journalists have established that Serhiy Kryvolapov is a Russian citizen living in the Irkutsk region and owns real estate in Ukraine. He moved to Russia back in 2001, but unexpectedly decided to invest in Kyiv real estate in 2017. As Volodymyr Kryvolapov mentioned in response to a media inquiry, his brother decided to support him and invest his own money in a Kyiv new building for future profit from the sale.
The apartment, where the Kryvolapov couple resides, is 140 sq.m. in size and currently costs almost 23 million UAH. However, Kryvolapov’s brother has not sold this asset for eight years. Kryvolapov explained that he doesn’t communicate with his brother since the beginning of the war to avoid endangering him from the Russian special services.
Another apartment in the same complex was purchased by Kryvolapov’s mother in 2020. Journalists found out that at that time the cost of such real estate exceeded 7 million UAH, which raises doubts about the possibility of its purchase from the law enforcement officer’s family income.
Kryvolapov’s parents remain in the temporarily occupied territory, where they arrived shortly before Russia’s invasion. The father, as journalists discovered, supports pro-Russian communities on the social network “VKontakte.” Analysts believe this could be a source of pressure on Kryvolapov.
