The candidacy of Serhiy Koretsky for the position of Minister of Energy did not receive support due to stability in Naftogaz
The candidacy of Serhiy Koretsky, the Chairman of the Board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, was considered for appointment as Minister of Energy, but the decision was not made as it is considered important to maintain stability in Naftogaz.
Serhiy Koretsky was one of the contenders for the position of Minister of Energy; however, according to a source in the Office of the President of Ukraine, the final decision on his appointment was not made. This is because it is “important to maintain stability” in the state-owned company Naftogaz of Ukraine, which Koretsky heads.
Andriy Gerus, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services, also expressed a positive assessment of Koretsky’s candidacy, noting that he is “competent, experienced, and has a good reputation.” However, at the moment, the press service of NJSC noted that Koretsky’s main task remains ensuring the stable operation of the company.
Despite uncertainty with candidates, a source in the energy sector indicates that the real problem with appointing new ministers lies not so much in the lack of contenders, but in the conditions offered to them. We recall that previous ministers, Hrynchuk and Galushchenko, were dismissed due to an anti-corruption investigation known as “Mindychegate.”
