Ukraine supports the Middle East in its confrontation with Iran while maintaining its own territorial defense
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, declared his readiness to provide support to the Middle East in stabilizing the situation with Iranian drones without weakening Ukraine’s defense.
After consultations with partners, Zelensky instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and the National Security and Defense Council to develop options for support in protecting lives and stabilizing the region. The President emphasized that Ukrainian experts are already working on this, coordinating efforts with international partners. These actions include maintaining the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, which has suffered from Iran’s actions.
Ukraine expresses concern over Iran’s aggressive actions, especially in light of the use of more than 1,400 attack drones and 800 missiles, which pose a threat to global stability and free navigation. Zelensky also stressed the importance of active actions on the part of the European Union and other international partners in eliminating Iran’s terrorist capabilities.
The United States, having launched Operation “Epic Fury” against Iran on February 28, actively meets the requests of its Middle Eastern partners. Planned long-term actions indicate the United States’ readiness to support stability in the region for as long as needed. Against this background, China urges Iran not to block the Strait of Hormuz, which is critical for gas supplies from Qatar.
