Ukraine sent drone experts to the Middle East to protect US bases
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine sent drone experts to the Middle East at the request of the US to protect American bases from Iranian drones.
In an interview with Irish journalist Caolan Robertson, Zelensky stated that Ukraine had the necessary “cards” both now and a year ago during the Oval Office scandal when Washington criticized Kyiv for insufficient gratitude for support. Currently, the United States has approached Ukraine seeking assistance in countering Iranian drones that threaten its bases in the Middle East.
Ukraine has significantly increased its drone production since the beginning of the full-scale war and now has a high level of readiness. Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the Ukrainian military and the development of technology allow effective protection of territories from drones, especially of Iranian origin, which have been systematically used by Russia to attack Ukraine since the fall of 2022.
Ukraine sent several specialized teams, equipped with interceptor drones, to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Kyiv provided interceptors and a group of specialists for the protection of American military bases in Jordan.
Experts believe that such assistance could encourage partners to provide Ukraine with scarce air defense missiles. It is added that Ukraine plans to launch 10 drone export centers in Europe by 2026.
