The Ukrainian project received a grant for AI research in education from OpenAI.
The WINWIN EdTech Center of Excellence project, in collaboration with the East Europe Foundation, has secured funding as part of OpenAI’s first grant program. This will allow for a large-scale study on the application of generative artificial intelligence in Ukrainian education during the war.
The allocation of funding was announced by the Acting Minister of Digital Transformation, Oleksandr Bornyakov. The Ukrainian project was chosen as one of 12 in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region. The research will cover 7,000 teenagers aged 12 to 17, as well as their parents and teachers, aiming to assess the impact of AI on educational processes during the war.
As part of the project, the team will also develop an AI Safety Toolkit — a set of practical recommendations for the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence by teenagers. Additionally, the preparation of analytical recommendations for educational policy in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science is planned.
In April, the Ukrainian startup TechNovator won the Deep Tech Accelerator: Hardware Edition program, receiving a $10,000 grant for scaling. Such initiatives point to Ukraine’s growing role in technological innovations and the relevance of AI research.
