Ukraine has lifted its travel advisory against visiting Hungary following elections

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has canceled recommendations for Ukrainians to refrain from traveling to Hungary following the victory of pro-European Peter Magyar in the parliamentary elections.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiha, stated that the election results are a testament to the Hungarians’ desire for peace, security, and development in a European direction. He also emphasized that this victory could have broad political implications for other European countries. According to him, the victory “sends a clear signal about the necessity of changes for parties and movements that promote similar rhetoric” in Europe.

During the election campaign in Hungary, there were manipulations regarding Ukraine, but now Kyiv expects an improvement in bilateral relations. “Ukraine is ready for pragmatic dialogue to restore good-neighborly relations and strengthen cooperation,” Sybiha noted.

It should be noted that for the first time in the last 16 years, power in Hungary has transitioned to a party oriented towards the EU. The former leader of the country, Viktor Orban, who often blocked sanctions against Russia and aid to Ukraine, no longer holds office. In his victory speech, Peter Magyar, the leader of the “Tisza” party, called on Orban to resign. He also announced his first foreign visit to Poland.
