Ukrainian drones are focusing on strikes against Russia’s strategic targets to create undesirable consequences for the aggressor. The commander of the Drone Systems Forces, Robert Brovdy, known as Madjar, talked in an interview about plans to move the war onto Russian territory and disrupt Vladimir Putin’s plans to capture the entire Donbas.
According to Brovdy’s statement to the BBC, Ukrainian drones have already conducted raids on strategic Russian targets located up to 2000 km deep inside Russia. This effort aims to increase pressure on Russia by attacking its energy export facilities that finance the war against Ukraine. Specifically, an example is the attack on the oil refinery in Tuapse, which is considered a legitimate military target.
Additionally, Brovdy emphasized the importance of strikes on military personnel to reduce the advantage in manpower. According to him, the plan is to direct up to 30% of drone strikes specifically on the military, and this plan is already being exceeded. This becomes particularly relevant against the background of mobilization difficulties in Ukraine, where most of the willing have already enlisted.
The commander noted that the effectiveness of drone operations is a key part of Ukraine’s defense strategy, which not only keeps the aggressor at bay but also takes the war to his territory. According to Brovdy, this could cause “turbulence” inside Russia, reducing its ability to conduct the war effectively.
