The EU is negotiating with Anthropic on the use of Modello Mythos to check vulnerabilities
The European Union has started talks with the company Anthropic about involving its artificial intelligence Mythos in evaluating vulnerabilities in European companies and banks. EU Minister of Economy Valdis Dombrovskis confirmed these contacts, expressing interest in the possibilities offered by the new technology.
The Mythos model can identify previously unknown vulnerabilities in IT systems, which can significantly enhance cybersecurity. However, limited access to information about the model raises concerns among European officials, as the EU financial system could become vulnerable to potential cyberattacks if the technology falls into the hands of third parties.
During a meeting of EU finance ministers, the possibility of providing European companies with access to Mythos was discussed. Spain’s representative Carlos Cuerpo suggested using regulatory and legislative tools, including the European Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act). This law, adopted in 2024, aims to ensure safety and the protection of citizens’ rights when using AI.
The Mythos model is known as one of the most advanced in the field of programming and agent-based artificial intelligence. It allows for the execution of complex tasks independently and can also enhance cyber attacks. Mythos is already used by the NSA in the United States, despite the Pentagon previously listing Anthropic as a risky supplier.
