Ukrainian military refutes claims of Novoandriyivka capture
Ukraine’s Defense Forces deny the claims about the alleged takeover of the settlement of Novoandriyivka in the Zaporizhzhia region by Russian forces and report the voluntary surrender of 12 Russian soldiers in the past day.
The southern defense forces of Ukraine stated that the information about the capture of Novoandriyivka is not true, emphasizing the low morale of Russian soldiers caused by harsh treatment, poor conditions, and irresponsible decisions by the command. This leads Russian soldiers to decide to surrender, refusing to die senselessly. According to reports, the Ukrainian military provides safe escort and protection to prisoners to prevent any risks from their own factions.
In southern Ukraine, according to military data, two Russians surrendered in the area of Novoandriyivka. The Ukrainian side released video footage showing captors being accompanied by a Ukrainian drone with their hands raised, after which they are taken in by the military.
This report follows the repudiation of information on December 4 about the occupation of Dobropillya under Hulyaipole and the confirmation on December 11 of the entry of Russian infantry groups into Siversk without actual occupation of the city. Additionally, on December 12, it was reported about the encirclement of a Russian group in Kupyansk, from where President Zelensky recorded an address to Ukrainians.
