The Ukrainian military has been allowed to purchase drones using the general budget fund
From 2026, Ukrainian military personnel will be able to purchase drone components using the general state budget fund. This aims to simplify the procedure for completing drones.
The Ukrainian Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal announced that henceforth the purchase of drone parts, previously financed exclusively through a special fund, will be carried out using the general state budget fund. This decision is aimed at increasing the operational flexibility of the military when completing drones and adapting them to specific combat missions.
According to Shmyhal, the changes will allow the military to respond more quickly to changes in the combat zone, which is particularly important for the effective execution of military operations. The ability to use the general budget fund means broader financial opportunities for the development of the drone program.
We remind you that already in December 2025, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense launched an experimental project granting critical infrastructure enterprises, including energy and defense-industrial complexes, the right to independently purchase electronic warfare means to protect against air attacks.
Experts believe that such steps can contribute to enhancing Ukraine’s defense resilience and adapting military technologies to modern challenges.
