Spotify announced the launch of a new AI assistant, which in beta status will be available in English for users in the USA, Ireland, and Sweden. Customers can interact with the assistant through mobile apps on iOS and Android using the “Home” and “Now Playing” sections. The target audience for the new feature is adult users over 18 years old.
Despite Spotify not disclosing detailed characteristics of the integrated technologies, the company confirmed the use of a combination of its own developments and models from other providers. Users can interact with the assistant by entering text or speaking by voice to select and adjust music, control the player, obtain informational references, and analyze personal listening statistics.
The launch of the AI assistant is part of Spotify’s broader strategy to deploy innovations in its services. Before this, the company had already tested a new audio format called Articles, where users are offered narrated versions of magazines. The aim of such an experiment was to simplify the transition from podcasts to longer literary works. According to experts, the innovations could make the platform even more attractive to a young audience that values interactivity and content personalization.
