Apple updated Siri to tackle the artificial intelligence crisis
At the WWDC 2026 conference, Apple introduced an updated version of the voice assistant Siri, which now features new artificial intelligence-based functions.
Over the past two years, Apple has faced criticism for lagging in developing artificial intelligence technologies compared to competitors like OpenAI and Google. However, the new Siri functions aim to change this. With the update, Siri gained the ability to search information in messages, emails, files, and calendars, create events based on emails, and even edit images in the gallery upon a user’s request.
Additionally, Apple has created the Siri app, which uses iCloud to synchronize conversation history, allowing seamless transfer of conversations between devices such as Mac, iPhone, or Apple Watch.
While the new version of Siri has significantly improved its competitiveness in everyday tasks, including information search and event management, it still lags behind chatbots like ChatGPT in performing complex tasks such as programming or data analysis.
Bloomberg analysts note that the improvements to Siri are a crucial step in retaining Apple users and avoiding weak demand for new products. However, the lag in more complex usage scenarios suggests that Apple still has work to do.
| Features of the new Siri | Description |
| Information search | In messages, emails, files, calendars |
| Event creation | Based on emails |
