Samsung announced the Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone with triple folding
The Korean company Samsung presented its first smartphone with triple folding, Galaxy Z TriFold, in response to the growing competition among foldable devices in the global market.
The new Galaxy Z TriFold, which can transform into a 253.1 millimeter (10-inch) display, significantly surpasses previous models, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This solution allows increasing the screen area by almost 25%, providing users with expanded content viewing capabilities.
Despite this technological breakthrough, the market for foldable devices remains niche. Analysts emphasize that high production costs and complex technology may limit the spread of the novelty. The cost of the Galaxy Z TriFold in South Korea starts at $2440, which may become a barrier for many buyers.
Among the technical characteristics of the TriFold, the largest battery among Samsung flagships and support for super-fast charging, which provides up to 50% charge in just 30 minutes, stand out. As for Samsung’s plans, sales in South Korea are scheduled to start on December 12, with subsequent entry into the markets of China, Singapore, Taiwan, and the UAE by the end of 2025. The device is expected to appear on the US market in the first quarter of 2026.
This move by Samsung demonstrates a constant desire to hold a share in the high-tech device market. However, whether the foldable smartphone will become commonplace for users is still unclear, as the advantages of new technologies often depend on perception and eventual implementation in world markets.
