Belgorod and Bryansk region suffer new missile attacks
On February 7, local Russian authorities reported missile strikes on Belgorod and the Bryansk region, leading to heating and electricity supply problems.
Belgorod’s mayor, Valentin Demidov, announced the missile strikes, noting the activation of the air defense system. He also reported damage to infrastructure facilities and the connection of backup power sources in some neighborhoods.
The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, noted that the work to restore heating in the city has become complicated, and two heating points have been opened. It is known that the “Luch” thermal power plant was damaged in the attack, which had previously suffered similar strikes.
In the Bryansk region, Governor Alexander Bogomaz claims that the region was hit by “Neptune” missiles and HIMARS systems. According to him, seven municipalities have problems with heating and electricity supply. The Ukrainian side, in turn, has not commented on these statements.
On the previous day, the Russian offensive on Ukraine included massive strikes utilizing 408 drones and 39 missiles, of which 382 drones and 24 missiles were neutralized by Ukrainian defenders. As a result of another attack, Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure suffered, leading to reduced generation at nuclear and thermal power plants.
