The military ombudsman reported about 2000 unfit for service soldiers

In one of the Ukrainian military units, about 2000 individuals have been identified as reportedly being unfit for service due to their health condition. This was stated by the military ombudsman Olha Reshetilova in a commentary to RBC-Ukraine.

Reshetilova did not specify the location where this case was discovered, but noted that a “comprehensive inspection” is being conducted on the unit’s territory. Representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Ground Forces Command are participating in the proceedings. This case indicates possible systemic issues in the mobilization process, as it concerns decision-making stages in military commissions (VVC) or in military units where errors might have been made.

Recently, Ukraine has been observing certain problems in mobilization policy and societal attitudes towards military duty. Some instances of mobilization measures have led to conflicts and even injuries and fatalities among soldiers and reservists. Valentin Badrak, Director of the Army Research Center, mentioned in an interview with LIGA.net that avoiding “harsh busification” and improving the situation can be achieved by creating new corps and brigades.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada’s Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets reported human rights violations in military commissariats, particularly in Uzhhorod. In response to these allegations, the “West” Operational Command initiated an inspection. President Volodymyr Zelensky also stated that Ukraine strives to transition from mobilizations to a contract army, but the process lacks resources and urgently needs support from European partners.
