Reduction in the intensity of the Russian offensive, private air defense, and development of missiles to destroy “shahids”: Fedorov summarized the achievements of the Ministry of Defense over four months.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has increased the supply of drones and involved the private sector in air defense

Over the past four months, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has significantly increased the supply of interceptor drones for the army and successfully integrated private enterprises into the elimination of air targets. This move helped double the interception rate of Russian drones.

This was reported by Mykhailo Fedorov, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, during a meeting with journalists. He noted that the supply of drones increased by 2.6 times, regardless of the fact that Russia increases the number of drone launches by 35% every month. The ministry’s strategic goal is to achieve a 95% interception rate of air targets.

To optimize the air defense system, NATO standards have been implemented, particularly the procedure of detailed analysis of operations after their completion. In addition, the Ministry has focused efforts on developing cost-effective missiles for destroying enemy drones, which are currently being tested.

An important part of the strategic plan has been the involvement of 27 private companies in the “private air defense” project, which create mobile groups to protect against enemy drones. Two such groups have already shot down 20 Russian drones.

In recent months, the Ministry of Defense has also managed to slow down the advancement of Russian troops. According to the verified “yeBali” system, the number of losses among Russian military personnel per square kilometer increased to 179 in April 2026. This was made possible by disabling Starlink for the Russians and improving the supply of middle strike class drones.

In the near future, the ministry plans to focus on reforming the recruitment system, anti-corruption measures in procurement, and providing all brigades with a basic set of drones. These measures are intended to ensure effective combat operation planning.
