iPhone Air loses almost half of its value upon resale
The new iPhone Air smartphone model has shown the greatest depreciation among all iPhones in recent years, losing nearly half its price just ten weeks after its release.
According to an analysis by the platform SellCell, iPhone Air models introduced in 2025 lost an average of 44.3% of their initial value. Some configurations of this smartphone depreciated by 47.7%, making the iPhone Air a record-holder for depreciation speed among all models in recent years. This reflects a significant difference in value retention between different Apple product lines.
Compared to other 2025 models, the iPhone 17 series, including Pro models, proved more resilient, losing 34.6% of their value over the same period. The leader among the models that depreciated the least was the iPhone 15 line with a 31.9% depreciation in ten weeks. The most resilient among the Pro variants was the 256GB iPhone 17 Pro Max, which lost only 26.1% of its initial value.
Significant depreciation of the iPhone Air may affect the resale market and consumer preferences, who may favor models with better price retention. Experts believe that this trend only underscores the importance of product differentiation by Apple between different segments, such as Pro and Air.
