SBU Officer Detained for Taking $68,000 Bribe for Fake Mobilization Deferral

An employee of the Security Service of Ukraine was exposed for receiving a substantial sum of money for facilitating evasion from mobilization. He is accused of accepting a bribe for issuing fictitious documents for deferral.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) reported the detention of an employee of the Main Directorate of the SBU in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast. He is suspected of receiving $68,000 from two men who wished to avoid mobilization. Each man paid $34,000 to be removed from the wanted list at the Territorial Recruitment Center and to avoid liability for fabricated documents.

As the investigation revealed, it was planned to use fake birth certificates of children to arrange the deferral. According to these documents, which were supposed to be issued abroad, each of the men was allegedly the father of three children.

The SBU officer was detained under an article for receiving a bribe, and investigative actions are currently underway. It is noted that this case is not isolated. Recently, NABU announced suspicion of another official for a bribe proposal.

Such cases of corruption in state structures can negatively impact public trust in government bodies. Experts emphasize that combating bribery is critically important for strengthening state institutions and ensuring justice.
