Meta is planning to create its own processors for artificial intelligence training
Meta has announced plans to develop its own specialized processors to enhance artificial intelligence training and has also secured significant deals with Nvidia and AMD for chip supplies.
The company, known for its active role in innovative technologies, has decided to focus on developing in-house specialized processors to optimize artificial intelligence training. At the same time, Meta continues to collaborate with major suppliers like Nvidia and AMD to secure reliable equipment for a wide range of tasks. This indicates Meta’s strategic approach in selecting hardware, focusing on the specific needs of each process, as reported by the company’s CFO Susan Li.
Li emphasized that Meta mainly uses its chips for ranking and recommendations, with plans to expand their application to other tasks in the future. The proprietary technologies could significantly strengthen Meta’s market position, especially amidst increased competition in data processing and artificial intelligence training.
Despite Meta not yet being a cloud computing provider, its data processing centers are among the largest and are actively used to train complex models. This enables the company to strengthen its market positions and increase the efficiency of new developments.
