Railway traffic in Ukraine experienced serious delays due to infrastructure damage
As a result of Russian strikes, railway infrastructure in the Poltava region suffered significant damage, leading to substantial train delays, reported the company “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
Due to the absence of electricity supply and damage to the contact network in several sections, the railway company is forced to use diesel locomotives for train movement. Long-distance routes, particularly Kyiv—Kharkiv, Kharkiv—Lviv, and others, are delayed for a period of 2 to 6 hours. Suburban trains in the Poltava and Kharkiv regions are also running with possible delays of 1.5-2 hours.
According to the “Ukrzaliznytsia” report, at 8:00 am, the following delays were recorded:
| Route | Delay |
|---|---|
| Kyiv – Kharkiv | +6:30 hours |
| Kharkiv – Lviv | +2:30 hours |
| Lviv – Izium | +5 hours |
| Lviv – Kharkiv | +5 hours |
| Husarivka – Lviv | +4 hours |
| Uzhhorod – Kharkiv | +3:40 hours |
| Husarivka – Ivano-Frankivsk | +3:30 hours |
For passengers of train No. 725 Kharkiv—Kyiv Intercity+, a transfer in Poltava to an electric train is organized, and similar measures are being taken for the train from Kyiv to Kharkiv. Changes will also affect the Lviv—Pavlohrad route, which will now end at Samara-Dniprovska station.
Representatives of “Ukrzaliznytsia” state that all possible measures are being taken to reduce delays. Detailed information about the schedules is provided on the company’s official website. It should be reminded that during the night attack on November 8, the energy infrastructure also suffered, including facilities in Kyiv and Kremenchuk, which were completely deenergized.
