Kuwait restores oil production to pre-war levels after conflict
Kuwait plans to increase oil production to 2 million barrels per day within the next week after a decrease to 500,000 barrels due to the conflict in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the head of the state oil company Kuwait Petroleum Corp., Sheikh Nawaf Al-Sabah, the country managed to restore the damaged energy infrastructure faster than expected. This will allow production to return to the level it was before the conflict.
The background of the events is related to the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the USA and Iran, which is an important step towards stabilizing the situation in the region. The document is expected to open the Strait of Hormuz for the unrestricted movement of tankers and also give Iran the opportunity to resume oil sales, providing a financial incentive to end the conflict.
It is known that tankers and cargo ships have already started passing through the US naval blockade zone in the strait, indicating the first positive shifts following the agreement with Washington.
